Fresh Healthy Vending
Back to case studies
The company had a genuine mission behind it. Working alongside the Let's Move initiative with First Lady Michelle Obama and backed by the Healthy Hunger-Free Kids Act, they were replacing junk food vending machines in schools across the country with refrigerated units stocked with yogurt, smoothies, granola bars, carrots, and juice. By the time we came in they already had machines in schools across 47 states and college universities. Over 10,000 machines placed. The problem was not the product or the mission. It was that the people who needed to know, franchise investors, school districts, and the general public, were not finding them.
We came in and rebuilt where the money was going. Google Ads was running at $75,000 a month with significant waste. We brought that down to $20,000 and reallocated the difference into channels that actually reached the right people. Satellite radio and finance podcasts to pull in local investors who could fund machines in their own cities. YouTube ads, native advertising, and sponsored content to build the public case for what they were doing. Responsive advertising that met people where they were paying attention.
The PR campaign ran alongside it at a national and local level. The combination of the Let's Move partnership, the mission, and a publicly traded company with real traction made for a story that media wanted to tell. We got them onto Good Morning America and CBS News among others. When the company went public on the OTC market under the symbol VEND the stock opened well.
They went from a company with a great mission and a visibility problem to a publicly recognized brand with a national footprint and investors in markets across the country.
